PROLOGUE
He stepped out of the crowd of commuters hustling toward the station and blocked my way. “Harro! I want speak Engrish wiss you!”
Oh God, not another one! I tried to sidestep him. “Jikan-ga nai yo!”
He sidestepped too, kept blocking me. “No! You not to speak Japanese! You to speak Engrish wiss me!”
“Deteike!”
Telling him to beat it startled him just enough to let me squeeze by and disappear into the crowd. I hustled along with the other commuters, cursing him for making me late for my train to Osaka.

Short and to the point, Ken. I once had five schoolgirls sitting near me on a train to Hachinohe who wanted to speak English. It was fun, but sometimes the accent caused a little confusion. We had a great time.
