His face is till burnt into my vision, in a permanent state of betrayal...

Sheets of rain pour down from above, throwing wet clumps of hair into my eyes. Bolts of lightning erratically slither across the sky and briefly light up his body.

His arms stretch into the air to grab something that isn’t there. Desperate snatches at nothing.
Frightened and falling, he feebly flails around, reaching for any ledge or branch to save him. Random kicks and spins do nothing but tumble him even further around. He glares at me, in confusion disgust and betrayal as he falls into the shadow cast by the cliff.

I just stare back with a grin. A smug, guilty and wicked grin. His mouth opens and closes with uncertainty, not sure whether to cry for help or curse me out. He does manage to mutter a few mumbled jumbles of words, but those are drowned out beneath the roaring winds. Before long, he is lost to the midnight darkness. There are no signs of him beneath the shadows casted by the cliff, the dodgy headlights of my last century rust bucket fading away before they can reach him.

I turn from the cliff and head for my car. Red and blue lights flash in the distance, prompting my departure. Climbing onto the leather seat, I place my gloves hands on the cold wheel and slam the door shut.

Engine already running hot, I turn the car around and take the back road. Better for retaining my innocent charade. With just me, the low growl of the engine and the rain pelting overhead and an occasional thumping emanating from my car (Unwelcome, but not unexpected), I make my escape through the untamed trees and bushes.

With thin tires flying over jagged rocks and a strained engine barely jugging along, it’s hard to tell if the thumping is coming from the engine or trunk. Whichever it is, the radio should silence it.

Interesting. I like open stories like this. Why did he kill him? Who was he? These questions don't necessarily need to be answered in a story. But I can't help but ask myself if he has someone else in his trunk, which makes me think this guy with a serial killer. Cool story.

This was great. I like the last part about the thumping in the trunk. Guessing there’s another body hanging out in there.
