Chapter 3: The Terrible Tribunal

Many unknown galaxies away

After being defeated by Izle, Scourge had returned to his home of Dormere, leaving his world behind for so many millennia left it a barren wasteland, no life what so ever, and without life, there is no suffering, and without suffering, there is no scourge, so now Scourge crawls the bone dust covered the land, in hopes of one day becoming strong again

Static in the distance, scourge hears. What could it be, he thinks to himself.

Wanting to rise to his feet and track the noise down, he cannot, so he continues to drag his body and listens closely to the static, getting closer the static gets louder until he hears what sound like voices.

“come in, can you read us, come in” the voice echoes through

Scourge being from once an extremely advanced world had seen this device centuries ago but never have used it had no idea how to use it and respond to the voices

“Scourge, we are suffering.”

Scourges eyes brighten up just a little. He grabs the mysterious device and begins to push any of the buttons and attempting to make any contact with the voices on the other side

“Scourge, if you are there, we need you.”

“Who suffers?” Scourge hissed

almost exerting all his energy

“Oh good, you’re alive. I was afraid Izle might have destroyed you.”

The sound of Izle’s name restores hidden energy inside Scourge, remembering all the suffering Scourge had ended and how he was now the one suffering because of Izle.

“Who is this?” Scourge replies back

“That's not important right now, the only thing that matters right now is you get back to earth, and you destroy Izle once and for all.”

Six months later

“Our work has paid off Donovan, our final partner should be arriving any day now, and once he does, how do Izle and his team expect to defeat us?”

“There’s no possible way they can,” Donovan laughs

The trees begin to sway in the wind until the bark begins to darken, and the lights surrounding both Dr. Lecram and Donovan start to flicker until they are completely out.

“He’s here” Dr. Lecram smiles

then without warning, Scourge grabs Donovan by the back of the neck

“What the hell!?” Donovan screams in agony

Dr. Lecram calmly walks over to Scourge and puts his hand out to shake scourges. Scourge looks at Dr. Lecrams hand in confusion and mimics Dr. Lecram, and extends his hand out as well.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Scourge,” Dr. Lecram says as he shakes Scourges hand

“Let go of me,” Donovan bellowed

Scourge drops Donovan

“Why am I here” Scourges voice echoes

“We all have a common enemy. Izle has made a fool of every single one of us; I once had my chance at annihilating him, but in the end, he got the best of me, and while he didn't outright destroy Donovan, he corrupted the mind of the one who did. And you Scourge, well we all know what he did to you. We all tried by ourselves, and he won, but together, if the three of us work together, Izle and his band of merry do-gooders won't even stand a chance.”

“So what's the plan then?” Donovan asks

“We’ve already taken the first step, turn the people against Izle, Zada, and Denson. The next step is for the people to witness the true evil and pure destruction Izle brings to this town.”

“and how do we do that?” Asks Donovan

“by forcing them to fight, in public. Izle has the power to control and conduct electricity of all kinds, but with that kind of power comes a level of destruction. You are going to start a fight with them, and you are going to let them beat you. When the people see these so-called heroes beating down their beloved Mayor, it will be a cakewalk after that.”

“But I’m not the Mayor,” Says Donovan

“You sure about that?” Dr. Lecram gestures to the television and turns up the volume

“in a landslide election, Chief of Police Donovan Kane overwhelms incumbent Gene Trevor for Mayor of Spokane Washington,” reports the news anchor

“You see, the plan is coming together perfectly.”

“and why am I here? Where are those who suffer?” Scourge hisses impatiently

“You’re here to deliver the final punch. Once Izle is weak, you will end his suffering along with his life.”

“But what if we cant, We all tried once before, and we all lost,” Donovan asks

Scourge glances over at Donovan, seeming to agree with him

Dr. Lecram recognizes their concerns

“That was before he faces the three of us together.”

“But Izle also has a team of his own as well, trust me Zada is a badass, she could take down any of us by herself, and I don’t know that Denson guy, but based on the tech, I’ve seen both Izle and Zada use, the kid might be the smartest person I don't know.”

“Just trust me, once they see what I’ve got up my sleeve, no one, not even Izle, will stand a chance against us.”

“and are you going to tell us?” Scourge asks

“Tell you what?” Dr. Lecram replies

“the rest of the plan,” Scourge retorts

“Let’s just say things are going to get very monstrous around here.”

“Now, don't get me wrong here, I want to end Izle more than anyone, but this is still my home. Please tell me you’re master plan doesn’t involve destroying the city any more than Mr. Plague bringer over here,” Donovan cautioned

“Sometimes we must destroy so we can rebuild, Donovan.”

“But we still are rebuilding!” Donovan snaps

“Then we will rebuild more,” Dr. Lecram calmly replies.

Back at Izle, Zadas, and Denson's headquarters

“Well, that's just great, now this maniac will be running the entire town and worst of all he one by the largest amount of any mayor in the history of Spokane,” Denson says

“We’re so screwed,” Zada says as she plants her face in her palm

“Guys, are you kidding me, we stopped a disease-spreading maniac, and you two are going to surrender to a mayor?”

“Not just any Mayor though, Iz,” Denson says

“Donovan Kane,” Zada replies, “Donovan comes from one of if not the most powerful and influential family in Spokane. I mean, his great-great-grandparents built this town, and his father expanded it. Donovan was already extremely loved by the people well before he became Mayor.”

“Then we have to show the people his true colors, show them all the lies he and his family have spread and lived off of for so many years,” commanded Izle

“and how do you expect to do that?” Zada retorts

Izle turns to the television

“Citizens of Spokane, it is with my great honor and privilege to accept your voice and your votes for me as your new Mayor.”

“We don't wait for the people to change their minds. They already hate us, so what do we have to lose?”

“Iz, what are you getting at,” Denson asks

“We take the fight to him now, let the people see what kind of monster he is.”

Donovan is just finishing up his acceptance speech.

when without warning, Izle fires a bolt of lightning at Donovan, knocking him back briefly

the people scream and begin to flee and protest in panic

“let's see you get up from that one," Izle shouts

Donovan rises to his feet, takes a deep breath, and begins to charge at Izle and Zada

Donovan smacks Zada sending her flying into a nearby wall,

“you can't stop me. You never could... Donovan declares as he glances over at Zada And you never will.”

Izle fires another bolt of lightning at Donovan. This time, it doesn’t knock Donovan back. Instead, he just absorbs the energy sending it back at Izle

Izle goes flying backward down the street, slamming into cars, telephone poles, and anything else in his path

“you won't win Donovan, I don't know what you’ve become, but we will stop you. Zada bellows

Donovan slowly walks over to Izle and picks him up by the neck, Izles legs dangling, gasping for air, his face turning purple

“you. Cant. Stop. Me. You see, I’ve got some new friends, and well these friends, one, in particular, gave me a newfound strength and newfound power, the power to absorb any type of negative energy you aim at me and redirect it.”

“Zada then fires her flame bazooka at Donovan.”

Donovan just takes a deep breath and, just like he said, absorbs it and fires it back at Zada. Zada barely jumping out of the way from the blast

“That hurt Z. We used to be friends,” Donovan says with a smirk on his face

Izle kicks himself free from Donovan's grasp, falling to his knees, attempting the fire a bolt at Donovan. Donovan quickly kicks Izle in the chest knocking Izle back, then grabbing Izle by the back of his shirt and lifting him and slamming him to the ground. Izle attempts to conjure a bolt of electricity. Still, Donovan stomps his foot down on Izle's hand.

Izle screams in anguish

“Guys, what's going on?” Denson asks over their earpieces, “I’ve lost visual.”

“Donovan has become something else, Den. We underestimated him,” Zada replies

Donovan continues to throw both Izle and Zada around like rag dolls, absorbing any blast of fire and electricity they shoot at him

suddenly a rumple begins to shake the ground

a large shadow begin to largen

“Scourge?” Zada asks

“Not quite...” then an even larger stranger looking Dr. Lecram appears from the shadows

Izle, Zada, and Donovan barely recognizing him

“But, you died..” Izle says in bewilderment, “how is this possible?”

“Just knowing you still were breathing gave me the power to continue breathing myself.”

“Wheres Scourge? He’s weak enough now.” Donovan whispers to Dr. Lecram
