IMPLODING UNDER THE PRESSURE OF HATE
By A. Garcia-Wiltse
I write my words through tears that do not stop, through sobs that break the silence of my thoughts, and through pity and grief that overwhelms my heart, and devastates my soul.
To hear and see the profanity of the evil that human imagination can perceive, plan, and then achieve -- and to comprehend the vulgarity of such human capabilities -- is beyond my ability to grasp, despite the fact that I am a member of the same human race, and share the same mind, heart, and soul, as those who dared to cross the threshold between sanity and unadulterated madness.
And as I watch the horror unfold, and listen to lurid and morbid details of first-hand accounts by those who survived – I find myself a shaken and broken man. A man, devoid of sense and sensibilities, now lost among the human carnage at Be’eri, Kfar Aza, the Negev desert, near Kibbutz Re’im, Tel Aviv, Sderot, Ashklon, and even among the self-inflicted desolation and devastation suffered by the assailants and their supporters, and those being used and abused, and serving only as human shields in Gaza.
My humanity -- that part of me that defines and explains me, and the family of man – betrayed by feral notions and emotions that consume and devour the stability and tranquility of human civility and nobility. That ethereal thread of continuance, persistence, endurance, that comes through collaboration, association, and human determination, gone in an instant of barbarity. And humanity once again plunged into the darkness of despair, anguish and desperateness.
My tears and my fears have now replaced the hope that, for one brief moment, had shined through, despite the ongoing violence, turbulence and commotions that has become the normality of human existence. The Hamas suicidal incursion into a well weaponized, fabricated and manufactured sanity, was an invasion without vision, without wisdom, and without reason, other than to commit suicide by stupidity and arrogance.
But still, nothing can undo the human carnage, nor the loss of trust, hope, or even tolerance, patience or human charity. Retaliation, reprisal, revenge and vengeance -- now the emotions and passions that define the new reality, in a world on the precipice of imploding under the unmanageable and uncontainable pressure of hate.
