I thought it would be fun

To be the one

That was called mom

They say to be mom is the worlds greatest gift

But I’ve seen too much to know that that isn’t true

A moms gift is work that’s never done

A home that always seems undone

A facade to hide the tears

All the nights filled with fears

Hoping to do your best

While working so hard for life’s test

Feeding the imagination of your dreams

Into a little mini monster ripping at the seams

Trying to do it all

Society makes you feel small

Living life of the ones that need you

But forgetting to feed yourself

Taking time alone is a luxury

I never knew it would be a necessity

To take a minute to breathe for my sanity

The world fills you with this image of joy

While most of the world sleeps

I stay awake thinking of tomorrow's heaps

They say it takes a village

Trying to be the best mom for the image

I love my little but it’s okay to say

I just need a nap and some peace today
