BURN THE FIRES OF HATE
By Al Garcia-Wiltse
Burn the fires of hate
that fuel the destiny of man.
Burn the passion and the rage
that feeds the anger and the fury.
Burn –
like the inferno of vengeance
and revenge
that corrupts the mind of man,
and erupts the flowing,
glowing
embers of distrust
and disbelief.
The molten chain of time
no longer linking,
no longer fusing
the strands and shards
of discarded and abandoned
grains of stardust and of sand,
littered on the shores of times.
And left,
but motionless memories
and stilled emotions
in black and white –
colorless
and without texture,
without substance,
without resonance.
Death.
The burned-out carcass of dreams
that never came to be.
The unfished symphony
never heard.
Death –
the tarnished and corroded trophy
when burn the fires of hate,
and wins the evil
that lurks within
the heart of man.
