There’s something to be said about the smile that hides the hurt.

Not everyone can identify a counterfeit grin.

The ones that wear it know who else does.

It’s not just a sad note glad,

A disappointment not delight.

It is the epitome of war.

It is the dichotomy of ferocity and fear

Where inspiration is overrun by ambition, ambition is overtaken by desperation.

Fear is captivating, fear is binding, fear is enslaving, but

The one slight expression of hope 

Arises to combat the gravest exposure of pain.
