The tree of universe is a vast network of lives which are interconnected with one another. Sometimes, these lives pretend to be something other than the leaves they are supposed to be, that's where the dream of connecting with the stars is born from.

It’s easy to lie under the stars and pretend.

Pretend that the world is going good.

Pretend that everything is working out for you.

Pretend that you enjoy being a part of something bigger.

But the truth is, who enjoys being a speck,

a midget,

a worthless leaf

in the tree of the universe.

I feel sorry for those

who look at other lives

and see something

that they had never thought of before.

They see that other people,

no matter how normal,

are living the same complex life they are.

And that’s what makes all the difference.

Once you think that,

you can’t stop the train of thoughts that follow.

Pretending is an art,

the art of concealing your true self

from the eyes of the world

craning their necks

to look into the most vulnerable parts of you.

But pretending is a lifeline to some,

to those who lie under the stars and want to be one of them,

to those who wish to be left alone from the prying windows,

to those who wish that the world were a sanctuary for the diverse,

and to those who wish to keep living.

But little do they know,

it’s not living if it’s pretending.
