After Slumber

You slept only,

but now you sing, and shelter

from all the tempests beyond

The hurricanes blast,

the monsoons mass,

but you have your song

You will croon,

an indestructible nightingale,

as all kinds of portents

portend all kinds of nightmare

But hey, you sing

So, you can ignore the maelstroms

You can shun the assortment

of apocalypses,

and simply weave honey

with your notes

Before, you solely slept

Your eyes were not open

But now, you accept

the way of the globe,

even as it splatters

You will step from slumber,

and sing sweet, stark song
