Two girls spend the night stargazing.

The dark sky was speckled and filled  with white dots for the first time in years.Anne plucked an apple from the new apple tree, she examined the fresh redness and smiled.Anne looked over to her cousin and aimed for the basket but it missed the basket and hit her cousin in the chest. The apple luckily still landed in the basket.

”Sorry about that.” She shouted.”Ugh,just hurry,I want to stargaze.” Her cousin bounced with impanticence.Anne picked the last apple and carefully made her way down the ladder.Anne peered into the basket to see the lovely apples. She licked her lips.Anne opened the door for her cousin and helped her place the basket on the table.

“You go get the blanket,I’ll pack these.” Her cousin cupped the apples in her dress,Anne ran to their room to pick the best blanket for tonight. She looked in the cupboard to find one.She did want the big soft ones but they were for the guests so she had to settle for the flat regular one with pink polka dots instead.Anne came back to the kitchen and presented the stargazing blanket.

“Where’s the flower one?” her cousin had her hands on her hips.Anne shrugged and put the blanket on the counter.Anne’s cousin went to check in the bathroom. She checked the washing basket but found no flower one.A memory popped in her head about its whereabouts.

“It’s still drying outside.” The two children sighed and went outside with the polka dot one.

“Oh,can I have an apple, just one?” Anne held out one finger.

“Ok,get me one too.” Anne ran back into the kitchen. Her cousin readide the blanket and Anne raced back with two fresh red apples to enjoy. The two girls laid back and watched the stars. The breeze gently blew the hair off their faces. The grasshoppers began their annoying song of the night and the two girls happily enjoyed their apples.

“Do you recognise any constellations?” was the sentence Anne could make out from the apple filled mouth.Anne searched the sky, making a thinking noise.

“That one there.” She pointed at the one shaped like a person without their head and legs wearing a dress with three dots on the where the waistline is.Anne covered her cousin's mouth before she could name it.She focused hard on the name. She knew it began with an O and the name was short.Which one was it? Arrows and archery.Anne made another thinking noise.

“Orion's Belt.” Her cousin's words echoed through the night.Anne slapped her shoulder, she crossed her arms and put her head down.

“Sorry, you were taking too long.We spent weeks on this at school. This should be easy.” Her cousin teased.Anne still didn’t look at her.An arm wrapped around her shoulder.

“How about you find the other one for me.I swear on my life that I won’t interrupt.” She crossed her finger over her heart.Anne gave a small chuckle and off she went to find the other constellation.THE END
