8. Home At Last

Under the gate,

now into the wood,

Peter did run

as fast as he could.

To home he was heading

he leapt through the door

and trembling still

he lay on the floor.

The relief was so great

that he wanted to cry.

His mother looked down

and gave a big sigh.

Where have you been?

More clothes you have lost!

I really don’t need

this additional cost.’

Peter stayed silent,

he really felt sick;

a spoonful of chamomile tea’d

do the trick.

Cottontail, Flopsy

and Mopsy too

had a special supper

delicious to chew,

while Peter was tucked up

early in bed

his nightmare experience

filling his head.
