Scary BOOKIES

It was a dark, chilly night. A loud BANG against the window startled Baby Nohemy. She screamed, a tiny, piercing wail that cut through the quiet of the house. “What happened, Nohemy?” her dad, Luis, asked, rushing to her side. “Something… something was knocking at the window!” Nohemy cried, her small body trembling.

Luis, a sturdy man with kind eyes, looked towards the window. The only thing he saw was the swaying branches of an old oak tree, their leaves rustling in the night breeze. He tried to reassure his daughter, but as he did, a chilling gust of wind swept through the room, extinguishing the lamp and plunging them into darkness. Then, he saw it. A translucent figure, shimmering faintly in the moonlight filtering through the window. Luis’s eyebrows narrowed. His face hardened. The ghost, a wispy, vaguely humanoid shape, seemed to leer at them from the shadows.

“Bada-bing-bada-boom is that what you're looking for?!” Luis exclaimed, his voice surprisingly loud and firm in the sudden silence. He grabbed a matamoscas that was hanging on the wall, and with a swift, decisive movement, he pointed it at the dumb ghost. “Get out you dumb ghost! This is the FAMILY's house, and you’re not welcomed here!”

The ghost, taken aback by Luis’s unexpected boldness, seemed to flicker and shrink. With a final, frustrated sigh of wind, it vanished. Luis, heart still pounding, knelt beside Nohemy, who was now whimpering softly. He sang lullaby's to her until she fell back asleep. They had successfully sent the unwelcome guest away. The ghost had no one to bother – at least, not in their house.

But the ghost, it turned out, was persistent. It hadn't given up on its attempts to interact with the curious and brave Nohemy. It followed them, a shadow lurking at the edges of their lives. One day, Luis was at work and Nohemy, now a little older, was home alone. She was playing with her dolls in her room when she decided to check the time.

As she got up from the floor, a loud BANG echoed from the living room. Nohemy, though initially frightened, remembered her father's bravery and felt a surge of determination. She slowly approached the living room, her small hands clutching a favorite stuffed animal for comfort. The living room was dark, the curtains drawn. The source of the noise was clearly visible. The ghost, floating just above the floor, was attempting to rearrange the furniture. It was tossing cushions, knocking over lamps, and generally causing chaos.

Nohemy, surprisingly calm, stood her ground. “Stop it!” she commanded, her voice surprisingly clear and strong. The ghost, startled by her resolute tone, paused its mischievous behavior. It seemed even more surprised to be scolded by such a small child.

Nohemy, remembering her father's actions, grabbed the matamoscas and pointed it at the ghost. She mimicked her father's words as best she could. “Bada-bing-bada-boom is that what you are looking for ?! Get out! You’re not allowed to be here!”

This time, the ghost didn't hesitate. It recoiled, as if struck by an invisible force, then faded away, disappearing completely.Baby Nohemy, feeling a mixture of relief and triumph, tidied up the living room, her confidence boosted tenfold. Word of Nohemy's bravery spread throughout the small town. She became known as "Nohemy the Crazy Baby" a title she wore with a shy smile. The mischievous ghost had found someone it couldn't frighten, someone who was much more strong than it had anticipated. And so, the ghost, having found its match in the courageous little Nohemy, finally stopped bothering and leaving the family to live in peace. The town, once filled with hushed whispers of the spooky occurrences, now buzzed with admiration for "Nohemy the Crazy Baby."
