GAMES PEOPLE PLAY

By A. Garcia-Wiltse

The meek.  The poor.  The humble.  The empathetic and compassionate.  They are the tired, the lowly, the huddled masses -- no more than flocks of sheep – shepherded by corrupt and heedless politicians – faithless religious fanatics and frauds – gluttonous financial titans – and entertainment Svengalis whose only claim to fame and fortune -- gimmickry and mimicry.

The movers. The shakers.  The wealthy.  The arrogant.  The self -- anointed, appointed, ordained, proclaimed, empowered, enthroned.  Existing in spheres of power – wealth – influence -- at the expense of faceless – voiceless – nameless lives that only serve to maximize – expand – augment – the bottom line of those who feed and thrive on money, power, control.

A game of manipulation and exploitation – by the powerful, for the arrogant -- the greedy and the seedy.  And insignificant, irrelevant and inconsequentia -- "We the People" -- nothing more than puppets, pawns, and marionettes on a string.  With voices no longer heard.  With choices no longer had.

The saddest part of all – watching as the insignificant – the irrelevant – the inconsequential – attempt to play the game – while knowing that they are being played – used – and abused.  And then -- to see the discarded carnage of human bondage left on the wayside -- withered, shriveled and humiliated – by the games people play.

Time to ante up as the games begin.  For those in uniform – the price too high.  And for those outside the gates of power – of influence – of godly mansions – or Beverly Hills manors – the price but fragile dreams – turned into thirty pieces of silver – bought and paid for – by those who will let you peak through the gates as they play with other’s lives – other’s dreams – other’s money.

The games people play – love – hate – envy – greed -- where winner takes all – hopes, dreams, dignity.  And where losers become insignificant, irrelevant, and inconsequential.  Nothing more than puppets, pawns, and marionettes on a string – for the winners of the games people play.
