December 22, 2019 Update

Hello all, we're pleased to announce the finalists of the Booksie 2019 short story contest. Our contest judge Ann Everett provided the finalists along with some notes about each one:

TOAST OF THE TOWN— by Zane Cray

This story is outrageous and made me laugh several times, so clearly, I was entertained.

JOINED—by Bonnie Linder

I love it when an opening line hooks me, and the story that follows keeps my attention. This one did both.

SKYBOX—by chrissaper

As I went through the process of elimination, I kept coming back to this story. It made me cry…but then again, I cry when someone wins on The Price is Right!

FLORA OF THE NIGHT— by Jenny Chante

I’m a sucker for romance, however, I like when there is more to the story than just the love element, and this one didn’t disappoint.

THE UNEXPECTED— by H. L. Ford

This story was clever and original. I loved how the author weaved Poe’s poem throughout and added her/his own spin.

The story with the most reads is:

CRASH by Brian Lee Clements

We'll be announcing the winners in approximately two weeks.

Congratulations to all!
