About

"Forgive me - I’ve never claimed to be a writer. It’s just that people who read like the stories I tell."

Scott's written primarily technical material for his software engineering and architecture consultancy for years. But now he's trying his hand at fiction, his first passion before having to make a living got in the way.

An avid reader and devoted fan of mysteries, Scott is interested in the application of the forensic sciences and profiling. He enjoys exploring the personalities of those in law enforcement. And he's seen much of the world, spending time in 37 states and four countries over the course of 35 years - experience that he hopes informs his writing.

Scott was recently awarded the Grand Prize in Booksie's 2024 version of the National Story Telling Week Writing Contest for his flash fiction Sendoff. There's very little more rewarding for a writer than to be recognized by their peers, especially from a website so generally supportive of writers (and their frustrations).

In March, 2024, Scott moved to Springfield, Missouri. While the move hasn't helped his dating life any (at all!), there's always hope around the corner (who knew that writing about serial murderers would be such a deal-breaker?). He's the proud father of two daughters, with four grandchildren to date. His hobbies include restoring collectible autos, tinkering with high-tech audio-visual equipment, and navigating emotional landmines trying to get his smartwatch to do what he'd like.

You can see the latest drafts of all Scott's work here and on his website at FSDeaver.com.
