in this story of family secret and struggles for identity is hidden empathy for those in the growing up years who faced diversity with strength and understanding. The story is told be each character and skeletons emerge and lessons are learned. The mother was a true to life character and the scenes and events are based on true to life events as told by a true main character, although it is mostly fiction and in no way true and can be construed as truth.
About Author
I am Clarice C. Cook and CCCWriter and since my first site here on Booksie became inaccessible to me, I've started over. Excerpts from Red Clay and Daydreams, The Rock Box, Life's Highway, Keeping up with the Jones, Shadows of Ignorance, and other manuscripts plus published books, one Legacy novel, 4 Echo from the Shady Mountain series and other writings were posted on Booksie. The novels Legacy from the Wake Journals and the Echo Valley series were the first published novels starting in 2013 on Amazon. As the reader travels through these stories, there is a noticeable difference in the author's growth in writing style. The latest novel, Down from the Mountain shows that growth. The novels plus two novellas: author Cookie Reese, and two dementia care manuals are available on Amazon. My advice to beginning authors is this. When I started seriously writing over 60 years ago, submitting manuscripts to real publishers (no self publishing back then) was disheartening. You needed an agent just to publish. Now with the self-publishing web sites, authors are competing with everyone from the street walker to the celebrity to get noticed. Everybody is a writer. Authors need to be very cautious about who to trust as agents, editors, etc. if they want to get past the bottom of the self-publishing line. Using Booksie helps you to hone your skills and make smart decisions about how to get your books published...but be aware that you need a marketing plan and you must be that marketer. Best wishes to all.
P.S. I was able to find the first page. Now I'm trying to link these accounts. Hope Booksie Guy can help with that.
