"I'm drowning! Help me! Help me! I can't breathe!" I screamed.
I flung my eyes open to witness Angie yelling at me to wake up.
"What's going on with you. I thought you were going to corrupt like a volcano." she explained.
I blinked at her. "Angie, I'm find. I was just having a stupid nightmare." I tried to say through my choked up voice.
This nightmare of drowning scared the crap out of me. I thought I was really drowning. I couldn't breathe and I thought my life was over, until I woke up.
"Angie... we can't stay in this water. I can't take it anymore. I don't feel well and I just want my mom. I just want to go home!" I complained.
"You have to get your head on straight and help me figure this out.You are not going to shut down now. We have to get through this." Angie said.
I looked at my friend for a long time, really admiring her confidence and strength. She was always the self conscious one and had a small voice in the past. Now she's the brave one. Wow this wave really knocked us out of place, I thought.
"Sandra, are you okay." she questioned me.
"Actually, I'm not okay. I feel sick, I'm hungry, and I have to go to the bathroom and It's not number one." I said truthfully.
"What do you want me to do?"
"Let's do what we have to do to survive."
We didn't speak for a long time. I tried to think about anything, but food. The truth was, I was thinking about food the whole entire day. Right now I could go for a half pound burger with lots of mayo and a filled to the top fountain drink with sizzling fries on the side from Dairy Queen. Man I so wanted that right now, but everything is destroyed and there's no way I would be having dinner or even snack today.
So far, It's been two days of sleeping in the freezing cold water and eating nothing all day. I would cry at night, praying to God that he would save us. I've been peeing in the ocean and since I haven't been eating, I was throwing up bile due to nothing in my stomach. Every now and then, I would be pulling my pants down to go number two and pulling my pants back up again and OMG it was super hard in water. It was so annoying and so disgusting. Angie was doing the same thing, except throwing up. I guess she has a tough stomach. Besides everything, I was fed up with living in the ocean. All I needed to do is find land and I could get out of the ocean forever.
"I found a water bottle!" Angie screamed in happiness.
I swam over to her and looked at the crushed mini water bottle she handed over to me.
"Where did you find this?"
"I was adventuring out to find anything that can be useful and I found this cooler filled with these small water bottles." she said with accomplishment.
I looked at her and for the first time since the wave hit, I smiled with so much joy. That's when my father's words repeated in my head "Cherish the smallest things because one day, you'll might just need them." I drank and drank water until I couldn't swallow another mouth full anymore.
