About
In my spare time, I love to exercise, play video games, listen to music, and then write. So it is a rare hobby, considering I am busy with training, college, and work; however, I am currently majoring in Engineering. Of course, this means writing, and communication in general, are practices that are becoming more and more central to my life. I am 20 and I grew up in a border town in Texas (and live here still).
I planned on moving out after high school, but a wonderful opportunity presented itself here in town at my local university in the Texas A&M system: a huge scholarship and a free trip to Turkey (which was the most inspiring adventure I have ever been on). Because I grew up in a border town, I grew up with two cultures: classic American (perhaps more conservative than liberal but open-minded at least), and stereotypical Mexican (wait, conservative American and stereotypical Mexican? They don't quite go hand-in-hand).
Because of this, life was always strange and full of peculiarities, but I grew up questioning everything, including religion, my parents, the education system and politics; that said, I believe greatly in respecting one another, so I do my best to respect people from all walks of life, and am therefore extremely interested in learning about the world. I admire the quote: the world is my country, all mankind is my brethren, and to do good is my religion. I proudly embrace my two cultures.
I admire Bond films/books.I admire Metal Gear and Final Fantasy (the video game series). I absolutely adore The Little Prince and Sophie's World. I value education, honor, and respect above everything. I like my guns, martial arts, and big delicious meals. I am a humongous music fan and play progressive rock in my free time. I don't quite believe in spirits, souls, fates, etc...so it is hard for me to say with absolute certainty that there is a purpose to life.
But whether there is or isn't...I know I have this life to live to its fullest. It's my goal to do so.
